After the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, two key players—Steve Smith and Mushfiqur Rahim—have announced their retirement from ODIs.

Australia Star Batsman Steve Smith announced his retirement from ODI cricket following his team’s defeat to India in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The 35 year-old, Steve Smith will continue playing Tests and T20Is for Australia despite retiring from ODI cricket.

Steve Smith ODI Career
Steve Smith made his ODI debut against the West Indies in 2010 at Melbourne. He scored 5800 runs in 170 ODI matches, including 12 centuries and 35 half-centuries, with an average of 43.28, along with 28 wickets. His last ODI innings was 73 runs. Smith was part of Australia’s World Cup-winning squads in 2015 and 2023. He also captained Australia in 64 ODI matches, with a record of 32 wins and 28 losses.

Mushfiqur Rahim ODI Retirement
The 37-year-old Bangladesh veteran wicketkeeper, Mushfiqur Rahim, announced his retirement from One-Day International (ODI) cricket on March 5, 2025.
