Bumrah Ruled out for Champions Trophy

India star Fast Bowler Jasprit Bumrah ruled out for Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury sustained in January during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His absence is a major setback for Team India.

In a major setback for India, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to begin on February 19. Bumrah suffered a back injury during the final Test against Australia in Sydney last month and has not regained full fitness.

He will be replaced in the squad by Harshit Rana. This is the second time in five years that Bumrah has missed a major ICC tournament due to injury, the previous instance being the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

Previous squad: In the updated India squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, Yashasvi Jaiswal has replaced Varun Chakravarthy, while Harshit Rana has come in as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy Life of form in white-ball cricket, has been included in the squad, replacing opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Varun Chakravarthy made his ODI debut on February 9, playing just one match before earning a Champions Trophy call-up on February 11. His impressive form has secured him a spot in the tournament squad.

The Champions Trophy 2025 kicks off on February 19 in Pakistan, but India’s matches will be held in Dubai. India is set to face Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 3.
