Why is Harry Brook Banned from the IPL?

Harry Brook has been banned for two years from the IPL, making him ineligible for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The ban comes under the IPL’s new rules, “Any overseas player who registers for the player auction and, after getting picked, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season will be banned from participating in the IPL player auction for two seasons.”

Brook was signed by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, he pulled out of the tournament before its start, triggering the new regulation. He becomes the first player to receive this IPL ban under the updated rule.
