Harry Brook Pulls out of IPL 2025, Faces Risk of 2-Year Ban

Delhi Capitals star batter Harry Brook has officially pulled out of IPL 2025 due to national duty for the upcoming England series, as confirmed on social media.

The English batter Harry Brook, 26 years old, was signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in November.

Delhi Capitals (DC) have yet to announce a new captain and Harry Brook’s replacement, with IPL 2025 set to begin on March 22.

Harry Brook also pulled out of the IPL 2024 season due to personal reasons. This marks the second consecutive season he has withdrawn from the tournament.

Brook played in IPL 2023 for Sunrisers Hyderabad after being bought for INR 13.25 crore. He managed to score 190 runs in 11 matches, including one century.

Brook Two years Ban in IPL

Harry Brook could face a two-year ban from the IPL if the organizers decide to enforce the new regulations regarding player withdrawals.

IPL New Rules: “Any overseas player who registers in the player auction and after getting picked, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season will be banned from participating in the IPL player auction for two seasons”.

“I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologise unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters,”

“With the guidance of people I trust, I have taken the time to seriously consider this decision. It is a really important time for England cricket and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series.

“In order to do this, I need time to recharge after the busiest period in my career to date. I know not everyone will understand, and I don’t expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right, and playing for my country remains my priority and focus. Why did Harry Brook pull out of IPL 2025?

Harry Brook had a disappointing Champions Trophy campaign, managing just 47 runs in three matches as England crashed out in the group stage after losing all their games in Group A under Jos Buttler’s leadership. Following England’s early exit, Buttler stepped down as ODI captain, with Brook emerging as a strong contender to take over as the next white-ball captain of the senior men’s team.
