Viacom has launched JioHotstar, its new streaming platform, formed by merging JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Tata IPL 2025 is just around the corner, and fans are eagerly waiting for March 22nd when the action begins. After India’s historic win in the Champions Trophy 2025, anticipation for IPL 2025 is at an all-time high. However, as of now, IPL matches can only be streamed on JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar with a proper subscription plan.
Is JioHotstar streaming IPL 2025 for free?
IPL fans who were expecting to watch matches for free on their mobile devices will be disappointed, as free streaming will not be available. A subscription fee is required to access the matches.
This change comes after the merge of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema ahead of IPL 2025, resulting in a unified streaming platform called JioHotstar.
Last year, IPL fans enjoyed free streaming on JioCinema, bringing immense joy. However, with the launch of Jio Hotstar, cricket fans are now disappointed as free streaming has been discontinued.
JioHotstar, which serves over 50 crore users with entertainment and live sports, has adopted a hybrid subscription model, restricting free access for cricket fans in India.
As per a report, fans can only watch a few minutes of an IPL match for free. After reaching the limit, they will be redirected to a subscription page, with plans starting at ₹149.
